New toilets dripping and running for a long time.

Ask a Plumber

The pump in both toilets was replaced last summer. One toilet has a drip drip noise in tank after flushing and the other takes time to stop running. What could be causing this in these new toilets?

  1. For both toilet sounds like the flappers might me faulty and need replacing. To test this add a couple drops of food coloring to the tank once it is filled. Leave for five minutes come back and see if the coloring is in the toilet bowl. If there is color in the bowl the flappers need to be replaced. Food for thought 1 leaky toilet can add $50/month to your utilities bill!!
